Insects - In July, insects have become annoying and aggressive, causing skin irritations and painful hooves due to stamping. Fly sheets, fly masks with ear covers & fly-screening leg wraps may provide relief during turnout. I also have some very effective & safe topical insect repellants.

Eye & Skin Problems - Heat & humidity are currently causing discomfort and are adding to eye and skin problems. Fans on the stalls are very helpful for horses in the barn.

Pasture Access - Heavy rains have caused pastures to become richer. Some horses may need to have their pasture access limited, even if they had already been turned out for long periods, to avoid colic or laminitis.
